The Canadian Cancer Society Cops for Cancer Tour de North 2011 would like to thank the community of Williams Lake for its support this year for all of the fundraising events leading up to the tour itself and for all of the volunteers within the community that helped to make it possible.

A big thank you to the Sandman Hotel for accommodating all of the riders and support crew; for the amazing dinner and function at the Thompson Rivers University gymnasium; to Denny’s for the wrap-up breakfast; and to the members of the Community Champion Group for all of your time and effort fundraising for the cause and planning for the welcome event and reception afterwards.

Congratulations to all four riders from Williams Lake: Dave Dickson, Brian Evans, Mike Hacker, and Ken Davies for contributing to an amazing cohesive team on the road and for their leadership skills in their community in fundraising more than $38,000.

The Tour de North Riders completed 806 kilometres Sept. 9-15 from Fort St. John to Williams Lake. On the way they met citizens and school children and spread the word of healthy, active living.  So far we have raised more than $240,000 and we still have money coming in.  Funds raised go to pediatric cancer research, support programs for children and their families and Camp Goodtimes.

If you would like to donate and help children fight cancer please go to www.copsforcancerbc.ca — Tour de North … every little bit counts. For more information on Camp Goodtimes — an award-winning camp for children with cancer and their families — go to www.campgoodtimes.org or call Erin Reynolds at 250-564-0885, ext. 108. A Special Thanks to: our tour sponsor — Canadian Tire; our bike sponsor — Northline Credit Unions; and our partner sponsor — Northland Dodge.
