The Tribune wishes to extend our thanks to the residents of Williams Lake and surrounding areas who participated in our ninth annual food and toy drive on Saturday.
Thanks to your support, we were able to fill four GMC pickups (loaned to us for the day from the dealership) with food and toys for the Salvation Army’s Christmas Cheer program. Another $1,127.49 was also donated. Every item and every dollar will help provide some much-needed Christmas cheer hampers to local families.
Thank you to the businesses that also supported the cause by donating prizes for the prize envelopes and grand prizes. Every single prize was handed out.
There were some very special moments at our food drive, from kids donating funds and toys they raised through fundraiser birthday parties to people who donated their prizes to the food bank or back to the tree for others to win.
The Salvation Army plans to make enough Christmas hampers to give to 120 singles, 50 couples, 120 small families of three to five people, and 40 large families.
There are many Christmas kettles, businesses and organizations that are raising funds, toys, or food for the Salvation Army, so if you weren’t able to make it to the Tribune on Saturday it’s not too late to help those who need a little Christmas cheer this year.
It truly is a special feeling watching our community come together to offer their help to complete strangers. Thank you, everyone, for keeping the Christmas spirit alive and well in Williams Lake.
