The song said it best

The proposal for a parking lot in Bear Creek Park reminds us of Joni Mitchell's song Big Yellow Taxi.

Re: New parking lot proposed for Bear Creek Park.

About the question of a parking lot between the two temples on 140 Street, I agree with what was written by Mr. George Zaklan in his May 7 letter to the editor, and with what Joni Mitchell sang back in 1968 in her song Big Yellow Taxi:  “They took all the trees and put them in a tree museum; And they charged all the people a dollar and a half just to see ’em; And oh, it only goes to show that you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone; They paved paradise and put in a parking lot.
