Editor, The Times:
As my waggish friend put it, there’s no blonde like an Alberta blonde and Alberta blonde Rachel Notley has made such a fool of herself over this whole Transmountain thing—she’s paved the way for that obscene eyesore of the year Jason Kenney to become the next Premiere of Alberta.
As to Bill Morneau—Transmountain on a sound basis—oh hell!
Let’s go over the figures for one more time!
Oil price per barrel as of Aug. 30 was $69.00. Cost of production north of $60.
Jeffry Rubin, also this $69.00 per barrel refers to Texas Sweet Crude not Alberta “Tar” there’s a discount of 10 to 20 dollars per barrel here?
And because there is so much good oil around Saudi Arabia has cut the price and ramped up production.
The US of A is currently “fracking” the bowels out of itself! Though this will no doubt have serious environmental problems in the future, for the moment the US has become an oil exporter no longer dependent on huge imports to keep its economy alive.
All over the globe there is, for the moment, a surplus of oil. There were some talks of Asia being a market for Alberta sludge.
Well the Chinese would probably take it if they could get it for next to nothing. It would give them fuel for their warships to expand into the South China Sea and tar for their road building.
There is some rumor that there are elements in Alberta tar that is good for building batteries?
China builds twice as many batteries as the rest of the world put together, so they say!
China batting 100 per cent—Canada zero per cent.
And there’s a major pipeline from the Siberian oil fields bearing good, sweet crude, not Athabaska tar, right into the heartland of China’s refineries.
Of course with the Transmountain pipeline “to hell” Canada loses out on both road paving material and elements for the coming source of power—batteries.
How Canadian!
When Rachel Notley joined Curly, Moe and Larry from Saskatchewan and that walking cane toad Doug Ford—Oh, Ontario, what have you done to yourself?—in rejecting carbon pricing, she forfeited any claim to leading what is supposed to be a progressive party, the NDP.
Let her join Kenney and crew, get this farce over once and for all!
