Well, spring break is over and everyday life is back. With summer getting closer, the next couple of months are filling up as notices are scribbled onto calendars. Take a mini spring break for yourself every once in a while, but have some fun at these events.
LSS Open Mic Night
One of the best nights ever is LSS’s Open Mic Night. If you’re a student at LSS, don’t be afraid to sign up and share your talent. Remember, performances aren’t limited to music. Poets, comedians, dancers and more are always welcome too. Even if you don’t want to perform, come to support your peers. This is definitely a night you don’t want to miss. Show starts at 7 p.m. and doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission by donation.
On April 15, term three comes to a close. That means marks cut-off, with finals and summer just around the corner. If you want to pull up your grade before finals, locate the list of tutors in the career centre, write down the number and call them. Your teachers are there to help, so talking to them or other students is another option too. Don’t stress too much and enjoy the last stretch of the year. It’ll be over before you know it.
Easter
Easter is a pretty sweet holiday, even if you don’t believe in the Easter Bunny. It’s time to paint eggs and hide, find and eat some candy. The Rec Room even hosts an Easter egg hunt April 19 from 3 – 6 p.m. If your ego takes a hit whenever you think of hunting eggs and candy, you can still have an awesome Easter. Rent a movie, eat some chocolate, hide some glow in the dark eggs or just enjoy some family time.
Attention students of LSS: you need a minimum of 30 hours of volunteer/work experience to graduate. If you need those hours, or just want to have a good time, the Ladysmith Lion’s Club needs teen volunteers for a Transfer Beach Easter egg hunt. Sign up with Danielle at the Rec Room. Event is Saturday, April 23.
Earth Day
Look out your window. You might be able to see the ocean or a line of trees. Maybe you just see the street or houses, but if you step outside and look up you might see a blue sky or be breathing some fresh air. The beauty of where we live is something that’s easy to take for granted when it surrounds us everyday. April 22 is Earth Day. Take care of the Earth, because no one wants the day to come where they are forced to look outside and remember how beautiful the world once used to be.
