With the so far inconclusive NAFTA negotiations currently stalled, it would make sense for Canada to throw in the “supply management system,” where — to paraphrase Winston Churchill — so many suffer on behalf of so few.
It might help to change the negative opinion of the deal in the White House and give it a “win.”
More important, it would bring the “Canadian East-West free trade” closer and lower the cost of living of all Canadians, as our Liberal government is supposed to be in favor of.
As Canada is one of a few countries in the world left with those antiquated systems, it is about time to get rid of those socialist programs of the past.
