Time to take Trump seriously?

The likelihood of “The Donald” taking office down south is a reality that is beginning to be openly talked about.

The Trump train keeps rolling and the likelihood of “The Donald” taking office down south is a reality that is beginning to be openly talked about. Perhaps most shockingly to those who simply can’t fathom this step in history was filmmaker Michael Moore (known for documentaries like Bowling For Columbine and Fahrenheit 9/11), as a guest last week on the show Real Time with Bill Maher, telling the panel: “I’m sorry to be the buzzkill here so early on, but I think Trump is gonna win.”

Moore has since elaborated on his statement by posting a letter on his website “5 Reasons Why Trump Will Win” (http://michaelmoore.com/trumpwillwin/) laying out in full detail why the words “President Trump” will be heard for the next four years. Definitely worth a read before you laugh at the next headline trumpeting Trump’s zillionth lie that professional fact-checkers have discovered, or his next globally divisive comment, or his next terrible pompadour moment.

Fact is, America has been glorifying Trump for decades. He’s become a household name for being a billionaire, for marrying model after model, and for firing people on TV. For as long as most adults can remember, he more than any other individual has symbolized the ultimate success one can achieve in a capitalist system. Does it come as any surprise that he may be poised to become the leader of the country that has had him on a pedestal for so long? For some reason, no matter how racist his words, no matter how despicable his actions (Trump mocking a reporter with a disability comes to mind), or the height of his incompetence (most recently, his wife plagiarizing First Lady Michelle Obama word for word, accidentally or not), his popularity continues to surge in the face of Hillary Clinton’s unpopularity. The world is waiting with baited breath to find out what direction America is going next, and Canada may want to prepare for a shake-up of gigantic proportions.
