Tourney a success

Another great Peach City “Tee Up For Cancer” Ladies Charity Golf Tournament was held recently at the Penticton Golf & Country Club.

The theme for this year was “colour yellow” for friendship and memories, and there was a sea of yellow tops, shorts, costumes and balloons.

The 15th anniversary of the tournament was its usual classic and fun-filled two days. The founder of the tournament, Jean Perry, was honoured, and Lorraine Addie and Cathie Heisler were also presented with roses as the remaining two golfers of the original charter members.

A total of 136 ladies participated in the tournament with the farthest team coming from Balfour, as they have in all 15 years.

This was the third year of our pledge to raise $100,000 in four years for the new CT scan for our Penticton Regional Hospital, and though the final results aren’t in yet, we know that we will be giving the hospital a sizeable amount towards that pledge. We are proud to say that our group was the first to make a pledge to Janice Perrino, executive director of the South Okanagan Medical Foundation.

In the past 14 years we have given over $332,000 because every cent we make goes to the Penticton Regional Hospital oncology department.

Thank you to our wonderful sponsors, donors and volunteers and to Penticton’s own LPGA golfer, A.J Eathorne, and the PG&CC for all their support.

Winners: First — Amanda McIntyre, Muriel McIntyre, Nora Perry, Lyn Perry; Second — Karen Gladish, Diane Banara, Diane Anderson, Lorraine Unrah; Third — Jackie Clement, Dorothy Vankoughnett, Dena Elder, Annette Wood. The winner of the major raffle of $1,000 towards his golf dues was Dale Herring from Calgary. KP winners were #3 Phyllis Miller, #6 Amanda McIntyre, #10 Heather Harrop, #13 Annette Wood and #16 Diane Anderson.
