Editor: We now have a self-appointed committee to study the advantages if any, of the City of Langley taking over the Township of Langley.
Oh! Did I get that reversed? I’m sorry, I just thought because there are so many problems within the Township, that this could be the simplest solution.
But we all know that if we are to continue to have equal representation, we’ll still have the same number of councillors. No savings there.
If we are to continue with the same services, there’s no savings there.
If we look at what progress has done to the business cores of the cities of Chilliwack and Abbotsford, amalgamation is of limited value. The City of Langley however, because of its good governance and leadership, is still a vibrant community.
This is so obvious, it means there is a continual attempt to bully it into submission to share the financial burden that has been created in the Township.
Isn’t it strange that if a knowledgeable City employee conducts a study it is with prejudice, but if Eric Bysouth is part of a study, it’s without prejudice. Give us a break.
K. Miller,
Langley City
