Tragedy averted

Visitor upset with the actions of a motorist on Highway 97A

You were driving a Chevy extended cab going south on Highway 97A May 23.

We were heading north in a red Honda Pilot. You turned left in front of us at a high rate of speed.

I want to make sure that you truly understand how close we all came to tragedy because of your appalling decision.

Thanks to my husband’s extremely quick thinking, and the fact that there was no one directly behind either of us, you are alive and not facing charges for dangerous driving or death.

Four counts because not only were my husband and I in the vehicle, so were our two daughters, aged five and seven.

Our precious, innocent, sweet, beloved daughters.

Were you texting while driving? Talking on the phone? Falling asleep?

You had to have been distracted to make such a flawed judgement call.

Do you care about what could have happened?

Because it will take me a long time to move on from this experience.

I hope you had to pull over to gain control of your emotions (as we did) and that you reflected on how lucky you are that somebody else was paying enough attention to save us all.

I hope you are unable to disregard what could have happened and that you do not downplay how serious it was.

We certainly will never forget how terrifying it was and how close we came to losing our lives and the lives of our children.
