Re: Chamber pushes for rapid-transit referendum, review (News, Sept. 2)
I heartily support the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce’s call for a review and referendum over the light-rapid transit question.
The relationship between SNC/Lavalin and B.C. Transit needs to give way to consultation, full disclosure and debate with a wide range of community groups.
What’s that called again? Starts with a D. Dem, dema, demo, it’ll come to me.
From its perch, Lavalin tells us $62 million per kilometre is a reasonable price for a tramway. As we speak, the small French city of Bensacon, near Switzerland, is building one for $22.4 million/km.
