Transition from fossil fuels needs more than lip service

I find it crazy that our leaders are still drinking the fossil fuel Kool-aid and can with a straight face tell Canadians that the old fossil-fueled economy and a climate emergency can both be had.

Continuing to sacrifice our natural resources on the altar of short term profit for the few is a fool’s game.

I want my tax dollars to be funding water supplies for communities that don’t have clean water. I want adequately funded health care, education, child and family support services for all of my neighbours.

By giving away billions to bail out Kinder Morgan and placing 100 per cent of the risk on Canadian tax payers, the federal government has removed any chance of my pipe dreams for Canada to be realized.

Instead our natural resources are all sold and profits sucked out of Canada, we will be a third world failed state fractured and broke.

It is time for Canadians to wake up and realize that we no longer can pretend that a transition away from fossil fuels can be done with lip service.

Funding a clean energy economy will take a lot of hard work and we need to have government and business leaders that are not afraid to leap. NOW.
