Anybody out there tried to get money out of the government?
In January of this year, I took my papers and documentation in to the government office in Victoria to ensure everything was in order and I would receive CPP and OAP the end of July. I did get CPP but no OAP.
I called and was told I should get it the end of August — didn’t happen. I called and was told to call back on Sept. 12 when the official time period of 32 weeks had elapsed. I called back and was told an enquiry would be sent, wait 10 business days. I called on Sept. 26 and was told an enquiry would be sent — wait 2 business days.
I called back Sept. 30 and was told another enquiry would be sent marked urgent — wait one business day. I called back Oct. 4 and was told another enquiry would be sent to a supervisor marked urgent. I called yet again Oct. 6 to find they had just got a reply to the four enquiries.
On Oct. 6 the processing department sent a request to Immigration Canada to confirm my entry into Canada. This would take another 10 business days. I called back Oct. 24 to see if they have received confirmation. I was told my application will be finalized and I may get payment, not immediately, but the end of November.
To say the least I am angry and have found the whole process difficult and frustrating. It’s sure a different story when you owe them money.
