Unbridled capitalism bankrupting society, no socialism
Let’s look at what has happened in the U.S. since predatory capitalism has taken over, especially as Mr. Scott says that socialism hurts charities in his convoluted logic.
Bush and now Trump have taken trillions of dollars out of the economy by giving the richest in that country trillions in massive tax breaks while engaging in two unwinnable wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is the unleashed greed of the one per centers that has dried up the once vibrant middle-class, who no longer has the cash flow it once did that allowed for the supporting of charities and the common good through the social safety net.
Socialism didn’t do that. It isn’t doing that here in Canada, either. It is the shipping of jobs overseas and replacing full time, good paying jobs, with the part-time, minimal pay jobs with no benefits that is hurting charities here, not socialism. Unbridled capitalism, not socialism, is impoverishing society.
As for North Korea, what’s your point, Mr. Scott? That country is run as a personality cult and hardly a beacon of socialism any more then the old Soviet Union was, as it was also run as a personality cult under Joseph Stalin. Had Lenin lived longer, the Soviet Union would have developed much like the Scandinavian countries have with a mixed economy where there would be no super rich class as under the Czars.
That other writer was the one who attributed to socialism what rightly describes communism.
Hitler and his Christian war against the Jews and those godless Soviets killed millions yet how loved he was by capitalists even in the U.S. and England at the time. Henry Ford was awarded the highest civilian award that Hitler could give for his undying admiration for the goals of the Nazi regime.
Stalin did kill millions of his own people, but keep it in the context of the time when that former empire was being ripped apart by a civil war and then trying to survive in the aftermath. Is it surprising that the Soviets moved against the most conservative elements? Wouldn’t any new regime have done the same? But again, the Soviet Union was headed by a paranoid psychopath, much like the U.S. is with Trump bankrupting the country for his own profit.
Sorry, Mr. Scott, the “crock” is all on your part not mine.
