Mr. Hicks stated or at least was reported to have stated that he works 160 hours a week, and sees a raise beneficial in attracting suitable candidates to the regional director’s position.
I am not a math whiz, but my rudimentary skills in multiplication prove that 24×7=168. Mr. Hicks looks pretty good for a guy getting by on eight hours for R&R.
I believe that even at a raise of 10 per cent, bringing his wage to $39,886, he is still being underpaid. Mr. Hicks has a tremendous responsibility and work load dealing with a diverse population and situations.
I would be surprised if the cleaner at the Sooke district offices made less than the proposed pay hike.
