Utmost care taken exchanging meters

It’s important to note that we exchange thousands of meters each year to ensure accuracy, and we always do so with safety at top of mind.

To the editor:

In a letter published in the Sept. 2 edition of the Kelowna Capital News, the writer expressed concern about advanced meters.

As with any project we do, safety is always a primary consideration.

Specific procedures we’ve developed for advanced meter installations will help avoid any install-related or equipment related problems. Every customer-owned meter base will be inspected before an advanced meter is installed. The inspection will flag any unusual wiring, broken government seals, as well as broken or cracked meter base lugs. The inspection will also include a voltage check.

It’s important to note that we exchange thousands of meters each year to ensure accuracy, and we always do so with safety at top of mind.
