Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit expansion vs. doubling your taxes
Regardless of whether you support the Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit or not, or even if you don’t really care, if you don’t like massive property tax increases you should care!
Recognizing that the VIMC purchased their property from the District of North Cowichan with a written guarantee from the DNC that VIMC could use the property as a Motorsport Circuit, VIMC understandably has the right and moral authority to follow through on a multi-million dollar lawsuit for being reneged on their approval to use it for its previously approved purpose.
So whether you care about the Motorsport Circuit or not, if you don’t want to see your property tax, in many cases double, you need to get out and attend the Dec. 9 public meeting and tell your mayor and council that you want the proposed expansion granted and you won’t put up with the tax burden of saying no. At the very least send a letter to the mayor and council — no increased taxes for stopping the VIMC expansion! This is real! Get out and get yourself heard before you get hit with the tax bill when it’s too late to stop it. The mayor has described the situation exactly as it stands. This is your last chance to participate in the public input to stop the inevitable massive tax hike that could occur if there is a second “no vote”.
