Reading the letter by Nancy Douglas (The NEWS, Oct. 14) about the curling club makes me believe the city fathers are still set on closing the rink.
But wait: municipal elections are coming up. A good slate to pick from, including Paul Reitsma, who was our number one supporter in the days we were fundraising. He was mayor at the time. Hopefully, we can elect more councillors who are community minded and realize the value and dollars curlers bring to the city during curling season. I would hate to see newspaper headlines: “City council proudly forced shutdown of rink with taxes,” a first in Canada.
