Vote for sustainable future with the Greens
Dear undecided voter in the Langford-Malahat-Cowichan riding:
This national election sees us at a make or break point in our history. It’s quite simple. Either we reverse the climate emergency or we don’t. The science tells us we have a decade or so to get it together as human beings or suffer the consequences.
First, full disclosure. I have been reading the climate literature and science since the early 2000s and have listened carefully to the ongoing dialogue. Subsequent to this learning has come my personal commitment to reverse climate change. I am the founder of a small business dedicated to building community resilience, own a small hobby farm in Cobble Hill and am an active volunteer in the environmental sector. I believe I have a personal responsibility to do what I can to restore the health of the planet and so I support Lydia Hwitsum and the Green Party.
Only the Greens have the deep understanding and the plan to get us under the GHG emission levels we need to guarantee our lives and the lives of every living thing on the planet. Let’s face it, as humans, we’ve been poor stewards of this planet and its gifts. It’s time to double down and take on the challenge. Lydia has the dedication, experience and competence to add an important voice for us in Ottawa.
The Green Party has a well-reasoned, costed and multi-pronged platform, one that embraces social, economic, cultural and environmental values. Just some initiatives that will lift us all up include affordable housing, anti-poverty measures, education, health, food security, reconciliation with Indigenous peoples. I urge you to read it.
Want a future with a vibrant environment and more social equity? Or shall we continue with business as usual and a model that fails Canadian citizens? Now is the time to make the transition to a Green economy and way of life. It calls for courage and personal action. We are Canadians. We can do this. We have a strong economy and generations of young people eager to make a difference in our stewardship of the planet. We live in a riding where the Greens have a strong and committed presence. There’s a small window to make a huge difference. When the coming generations look you in the eye and ask what you did during The Time of the Great Transition, what will you say?
Vote for a sustainable future. Your future.
