Walker completely wrong about the melting Arctic and CO2
John Walker seems to take too much pride in his lack of knowledge with anything remotely dealing with science as attested to by his mind-boggling statement that the Arctic has few people so isn’t contributing to greenhouse gases. There are billions of tons of CO2 stored in the permafrost of the Arctic. With climate change and global warming, that CO2 is being released from not just in our Arctic territory but also in Siberia, along with stored up methane.
He still peddles the debunked idea so loved by online trolls that it is just normal warming by the sun. How does any sane person respond without adjectives not allowed in community papers when such ignorance is just repeated ad nauseum?
As the Arctic heats up the saltwater of the ocean will be diluted which in turn will change ocean currents. It will even affect the Gulf Stream and move it further south than it has historically been thus causing the ports of Britain and the rest of northern Europe to freeze over for months every year. It could conceivably push Europe into another ice age, and John Walker says why sweat the warming of the Arctic!
And let’s not forget that as the Arctic warms up that the jet streams will not stay stable and their fluctuating movements will throw food production into crises around the world. When the Arctic heated up last time, there were not eight billion people on this planet. In fact, there were no people at all. Rising seas, decreased food production, over-population all will conspire to bring about catastrophic chaos and collapse of those countries that will be most adversely affected.
I don’t even know if John Walker understands what the greenhouse gas effect is all about. The resulting infuriating nonsense and disjointed “logic” of his arguments would be so much funnier to read if they weren’t also so dangerous.
