Editor, The Times:
I’ve been hearing a lot about “yellow jacket” demonstrations lately, including one just recently in our own home town of Clearwater. And I suddenly realize that there was a gaping hole in my understanding of the world, namely the apparent fact that yellow jacket wasps have political opinions.
I apologize profusely for my gross over site and promise to listen to what they have to say, if they promise not to sting me repeatedly. As of course you know that unlike bees, yellow jackets have weapons of mass injection and they don’t much care who they inject or how often, however I have heard that First Nations and Muslims are their favourite targets, with the odd Liberal and Socialist thrown in.
As my friend Dennis puts it, I am prone to break out in song on occasion, although I know that a few choruses of “Solidarity Forever” will stir up the yellow jackets, making life miserable for all of us.
But of course we are all part of this animal and insect kingdom, and we must find a way to coexist, so consider this my olive branch and a happy New Year.
