Do protesters not know pipelines carry carbon, not use it? Crude oil transportation worldwide is now near 100 million barrels per day, half by sea and half by land, ongoing over 100 years, including two major wars.
Have spills decimated the world as contended? Why is there no focus on use when significant reductions exist (80 per cent in 10/12 years)? There are only two vehicle types capable of this change. Why do they not focus on actual reductions by promotion of two vehicle types? Ruling out ignorance (mostly), one is left with conflict of interest.
With significant carbon reduction environmentalists would not be necessary. Governments put environmentalists in charge of carbon reduction and their current ‘solution’ is to increase costs with ‘hope’ for carbon decrease, some time in the future.
Perception of concern/change without change.
[Promoting these two types of vehicles would produce] savings in Canada exceeding $50 billion yearly from less fuel usage (reduce 60 billion litres gas/diesel per year to 12) and 80 per cent carbon reduction! Costs, under $10 billion yearly paid by those using fuels — all of us! And no lifestyle change. Costs to rebate energy efficient new vehicle purchases, to make them affordable to all. Early owner switch gets the largest payback.
Canada start, world to follow. Change worldwide 100 million barrels/day down to 20/30 mbbl/day — now that is significant!
