I just read the letter from Roberta Taylor regarding the transit bus no longer stopping in front of Save On Foods’ new store at Wembley Mall.
Although I understand her point about the convenience to seniors of having the bus stop right in front of the store, I would, however, like to point out that it is also a very dangerous situation when the bus is stopped right in front of the store, and people are having to pass in front of, or behind the bus when walking to and from their vehicle.
I have seen SO MANY close calls, where a pedestrian is almost struck down by a car, because of the bus blocking visibility of oncoming cars.
Children in particular, often tend to dart out ahead of their parent, and people can’t see the oncoming cars when they step out from behind the bus, as they are returning to their vehicle.
Perhaps the bus could stop somewhere on the outskirts of the parking lot where it wouldn’t pose such a danger to pedestrians?
Would that be a reasonable compromise, so that everyone would be safer?
