Winter is a time when everyone wants to stay cozy and comfortable.
I was glad to read in the Nov. 17 Leader that “Surrey’s cold weather shelters to open this weekend.”
I am currently a student in Social Justice 12 class at Tamanawis Secondary School and this article stood out to me since it relates to what we are learning in class.
It has always concerned me knowing that there are people living on the streets in cold weather in fall or winter while others are in warm places; I’ve always thought of that to be unfair.
It is nice to know that Surrey is stepping up and supporting those in need by having everything planned ahead of time making it easier for people to be ready for the extreme weather.
Also it shows that Surrey is concerned about every individual, providing shelters as well as warm clothing to them so they are comfortable.
It makes me feel good about living in Surrey knowing that everyone matters.
Now everyone can have a safe and warm Christmas thanks to the shelters around Surrey.
