What’s lost in the pipeline debate

It’s time to get our heads out of the tar sand

While we’re busy debating economics, jobs, risks, rights, etc. regarding the proposed Northern Gateway pipeline, the most important reason for not building it is being overlooked and likely to the delight of the politicians and oil executives.

More of anything to do with extracting more bitumen from the tar sands means more burning of fossil fuels which means more climate change. The floods, the draughts, the slides – climate change is all around us.

It’s time to get our heads out of the tar sand, kick the oil addiction and get on with employing renewable energies to power our planet.

Future generations are counting on us.
