Re: Overcrowding prompts catchment change (The News, Jan. 13).
I am writing to state my concerns around the overcrowding of east Maple Ridge elementary schools and the lack of appropriate action being taken to accommodate the anticipated growth in the area.
I have two young children that will be starting school in the next few years and are slated to go to a school (based on your new catchments) that is both considerably out of the way (by far) and not a school that I would have chosen for my children in the first place.
I take exception to the fact that I pay my taxes as expected (which already provides inadequate return on investment) and now the return expectation once again is being failed for the people and my choices are being stripped for my children’s education.
I want to know, what’s the plan for someone like me that will not comply to your catchment specifications? When is the new school being built? Where is the accountability to the people?
