When will the arena payments stop?

The big question is this: Is there anything in writing from the politicians stating that after 20 years, when the debt is retired, this bill stops?

Editor: I would like to congratulate all the overseers of the Cowichan Lake Arena Upgrade for a job well done.

The finished project breathes new life into a 40-year old structure and is spectacular.

The project came in on time and, most importantly, on budget. The taxpayers voted to expend  $7,600,000 for this upgrade.

As I understand it, the taxpayers of area F and I of the CVRD and the Town of Lake Cowichan received a check of $1,000,000 from the taxpayers of Canada to assist in this project.

I also understand that the gift was applied to the project to reduce the tax burden for the taxpayers of areas F & I, and the Town of Lake Cowichan, from $107 to $86 for property values of $300,000 for 20 years.

The big question is this: Is there anything in writing from the politicians stating that after 20 years, when the debt is retired, this bill stops?
