I would like to thank the Fort St. James Search and Rescue, Fort St. James Ambulance, and the RCMP for helping me get down from Mount Pope on Thursday, March 7.

As most people know Sharon, Randy and I snowshoe up Mount Pope for exercise most days.  It’s a very good hike, but some parts are steep and slippery to get around in the winter months.

We know these areas and are able to manoeuvre around.

But on this dreadful day I wasn’t able to and fell over the embankment  and dislocated and broke my ankle.

At 6:30 p.m. I fell and we had to call the ambulance.

They responded quickly but were unable to locate us right off, eventually they, did, and because of where I had landed they had to call Search and Rescue to help to get me off the mountain.  They got me back on the trail and stabilized my injured ankle then had to transport me approximately 1.1 km down to the ambulance, by sliding and carrying me.

Lucky I had on my snow pants to get around the slippery parts.  They got me to the snowmobile and got me down to the parking lot.

I was never so happy to be down and off the mountain.

The guys did a great job.  I am so grateful for all their help.  I wasn’t able to get their names to thank them personally.

So thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your help.

I would also like to say a big huge THANK YOU to Sharon and Randy for everything they do for me.  Also my husband Roger and Claire for being there for me 24-7.  Thank you and lots of love to you all.

I plan on going back hiking when I’m all mended again.
