Words ‘twisted’ by candidate

I am appalled and concerned by the misrepresentation in the election ad Sukh Dhaliwal ran in the Friday edition of the Surrey/North Delta Leader. In the ad, Dhaliwal takes a quote of mine out of context to give the impression I’ve endorsed him, when, in fact, I am emphatically endorsing Jinny Sims, his NDP opponent.

I’m appalled because Dhaliwal did not ask me if he could use my quote in his ad, nor has he ever asked for my endorsement. I do not take kindly to my words being twisted into a statement of support where none exists.

I’m concerned because the misuse of my quote casts a shadow over the other statements in his ad. Who else is being misrepresented by Dhaliwal’s campaign?

With Liberals continuing to engage in this kind of tired, dishonest manoeuvring no wonder Canadians are turning in record numbers to the refreshing leadership of the NDP.
