I’d like to give a big thanks to the Young Arts Market (affectionately known as the YAM) for organizing an amazing youth dance this past weekend.
I’d also like to thank the hundred or so community youth who attended for making it such a magical and memorable experience.
Everyone was on their best behaviour, demonstrating to the friendly RCMP officers that stopped by that Oceanside youth are not all troublemakers.
There’s a real scarcity of things for Parksville/Qualicum youth to do on the weekends and events like this help bring friends and strangers together for good clean fun.
The YAM is truly a community asset, holding weekly events and seminars such as: dances, knitting classes, creative writing and drama groups and open mic nights as well as hosting one of the most innovative art galleries on the Island.
It’s right across from the Rod & Gun, I highly recommend you stop by and see what it’s about for yourself.
