Terrace and Kitimat fans of the cold, white stuff met at the top of Clague Mountain on Saturday for the annual Valentine’s Poker Rally.
Hosted by the Kitimat Snowmobile and Hikers Club, the rally saw 43 participants make their way up the mountain for the event.
The event, a fundraiser for the club, sees sledders and hikers come together to follow a route up to the mountain from Bowbyes Lake, an 18km route with five designated stations along the way.
Participants draw a playing card from each station – the participants with the best poker hands are crowned winners.
The hikers also participate but use the shorter front route to get to the top of the mountain.
The event included a barbeque (hotdogs, souvlaki and chilli) and some sledding in the meadows above the club’s cabin.
There were also over 80 prizes handed out, donated by Kitimat and Terrace businesses.
Despite a temperature of minus 12 and a bit of wind chill, participants were treated to a full sunshine day.
