Larry Lund expected his 1986 Penticton Knights to be inducted into the B.C. Hockey Hall of Fame at some point. Lund, the architect of B.C’s first Canadian national championship team, said it is well-deserved, yet added he was surprised and excited when it finally became a reality.

“This is an exceptional hockey team. Out of all the junior A teams that’s won the Canadian championship, this might be one of the more dominant teams,” said Lund, to the Penticton Western News in early January.

The Knights, joined Vernon Vipers owner Duncan Wray, retired NHL referee Rob Shick, Jack McIlhargey and Joe Sakic for the 20th anniversary of the BC Hockey Hall of Fame induction ceremony last Friday.
