Burns Lake Mountain Biking Association hosted its fourth annual Big Pig Mountain Biking Festival Aug. 19 through 21.
The event saw participants from Prince George, Smithers, Fort St. James, Telkwa, Terrace, Kamloops, Houston and Vanderhoof.
The age categories were: cutlet (12 and under), junior tender (13 to 15 years), senior tender (16 to 18 years) lean (19 to 34 years), gristle (35 to 49 years) and freezer burn (50 plus years).
Downhill race
Junior tender winner was Elise Dube, (13:19). The sow lean race was won by Helen Purslow of Terrace (12:28), second: local Susan Russell (13:39), and third local Allie Dickson (15:58). In the sow gristle division, Nicole LeBlanc was first (11:29), second local Patti Dube (17:42).
In the boar men’s division, cutlet: first: local Ricky Wainwright (14:05), second: Heiko Krause of Smithers (14:50) and local Camerson Steward, with a time of 19:16.
Junior tender: first Dylan Marek of Smithers (10:20), second: Josh Holland of Fort St. James (10:28), third Eric Jonkman of Kitimat (11:16).
Senior tender: first: Kyler Highe of Terrace (10:15), second: Brendan Lehmann of Prince George (11:11) and third: Glenn King of Prince George (11:16).
Lean; first: Kurt Wolf of Prince George (10:20), second: Brady Caron of Prince George (10:29), third: Logan Malken of Smithers (10:56).
Gristle; first: Peter Krause of Smithers (10:45), second: local Pat Dube (11:08), third local Kevin Derksen (11:16).
Freezer burn, first David Marek of Smithers (12:08), second: local Guy Epkens-Shaffer with a time of 15:19.
The winner of the $100 fastest male boar was Kylar Highe of Terrace. Fastest female sow was Nicole Leblanc of Prince George.

Boer division men’s cutlet: first: local Ricky Wainwright, second: Heiko Krause of Smithers, third, local Cameron Stewart.
Junior tender: first Josh Holland of Fort St. James, second: Nicholas Bernier, third: Griffin Paulson, both of Prince George.
Senior tender: first Brendan Lehmann, second: Glenn King, third Elliot Andal – all of Prince George. Lean: first Kurt Wolf of Prince George, second Brady Caron of Prince George, third: Zach De La Mare of Houston.
Sow division women’s all ages; first: Helen Purslow of Terrace, second: local Elise Dube, third: Nicole Leblanc of Prince George.
The 4-cross winner of the $100 prize for the boar was Josh Holland of Fort St. James, with the sow top prize awarded to Helen Purslow of Terrace.
Jump Jam
Junior tender: first: Simon Karrer, second Liam Jamieson – both of Prince George.
Senior tender: first Elliot Andal, second Glenn King, third Willard Andal – all of Prince George.
Lean: first Brady Caron of Prince George, second Zach De La Mare of Houston.
Overall winner of the $100 Best Trick Rider was Elliot Andal of Prince George.
Dante’s Inferno
Overall fastest times were Peter Findlay of Kamloops, two hours, 55 minutes and Helen Purslow of Terrace four hours and 16 minutes.
In the boar division senior tender: first: Willard Andal of Prince George (four hours 23 minutes) lean first: David Nutbrown of Fort St. James (4 hours, 5 minutes) gristle: first: Peter Krause of Smithers (three hours, 23 minutes), second: Liam Overstall of Smithers (three hours, 52 minutes), third: local Dave Sandsmark (4 hours, eight minutes).
Freezer burn: first Peter Findlay of Kamloops, two hours 55 minutes. He also won the $100 overall fastest time prize.
In the sow division: lean: Helen Purslow of Terrace won the $100 fastest female rider prize. Local Susan Russell was second with a time of four hours, 36 minutes.
