The Arrowsmith Community Recreation Association is once again hosting its 3-on-3 Youth Basketball Tournament.
This will be the third year the event will be held in conjuction with BC Youth Week, which features youth-oriented events across the province from May 1-7. It is just one of the many events the Regional District of Nanaimo has lined up throughout the week.
The 3-on-3 tourney will take place on May 1, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Coombs Fairgrounds Gymansium at 1014 Ford Road in Coombs. There will be two divisions — juniors aged 13 to 15 years and seniors aged 16 to 18 years.
Anyone wishing to enter can register by emailing Kristine Stephenson at stephenson@live.ca or calling 250-927-3985. Co-eds are welcome and play is open to all levels of basketball experience.
The organizers encourage those who want to take part to register early as the tournament is limited only to 16 teams. The deadline to enter is April 24.
There is no cost to enter thanks to the support of the ACRA, the RDN and the Coombs Old Country Market.
“ACRA is excited to host this event again as part of the RDN’s BC Youth Week activities,” said Kim Longmuir, ACRA recreation coordinator. Grab your friends, register, and come on out for a fast-paced, fun and friendly evening of basketball and have fun.”
Prizes will be awarded to the top two teams in each division and all participants are treated to free pizza, cookies and water.
