Fung Loy Kok Institute of Taoism will host a Taoist Tai Chi arts workshop Jan. 25-27.
The event is also a celebration of the 30th anniversary of Taoist Tai Chi arts in Central Vancouver Island.
Organizers have invited dignitaries to join the workshop at noon on Saturday, Jan. 26 at the Parksville Community and Conference Centre on 132 E. Jensen Ave, Parksville. Approximately 250 participants are expected to attend from all over British Columbia. The international organization, with tens of thousands of practitioners worldwide, has been offering Taoist Tai Chi arts in Canada for 49 years. Its style and method of instructing Tai Chi incorporates the body, mind and spirit and helps recover, maintain or enhance our health.
By practising Taoist Tai Chi arts, said Marlene Foran, a member of the regional management committee, participants of all ages and levels of health have experienced profound benefits and improvements to their quality of life. This includes people with significant health challenges such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, stroke, brain, spinal cord injuries and cardiovascular disease.
The institute operates two international centers, one just north of Toronto, and the other in Dunedin, Fla., where people gather from all over the world for training and instruction in the various Taoist Tai Chi arts.
The Parksville branch covers a large area from as far south as Duncan, north to Campbell River and Sointula, west to Port Alberni and east to Powell River. Our two main locations are in Parksville, at 491A East Island Hwy and in Nanaimo, at 1724 Bowen Road.
