400 fans welcome Grey Cup

The Canadian Football League's Grey Cup trophy visited Chilliwack's Coast Hotel Friday night.

Game Ready Fitness came to Chilliwack Friday night, bringing with them the Grey Cup and a handful of Canadian Football League. They were met by over 400 CFL fans and players from Chilliwack Minor Football.

Unlike the Stanley Cup, everyone in attendance was permitted to touch and even carry the Grey Cup while having their picture taken by Jodi Birston (Birston Photographic Arts).

Fans were encouraged to mingle with the CFL players and get their autographs.

Game Ready Fitness is a youth development program that is new to the Chilliwack area.  Their main goal is to help close the gap between Canadian and U-S football talent.  They strive to help participants apply for and receive post-secondary scholarships.

Game Ready Fitness wants all players to have the same access to top level coaching, regardless of financial circumstances. To that end, they encourage one-on-one mentoring by community role models, with current and past CFL players coaching participants at least twice a week.
