49 take advantage of Ladies Golf at Chinook Cove

Well, we lucked out...again.

Well, we lucked out…again.

Tuesday, Aug. 28, turned out to be a lovely day and 49 (yes, I said 49) ladies chose to take advantage. We had a super afternoon/evening of golf, followed by food, fun and frivolity.

Doreen Landry had a fabulous round and after all the kidding I have given her in person and in my column I just thought it was important to tell you about it. She was the low gross winner for Flight 3 with a score of 52. She had the long drive on Hole 1. She had a birdie. She didn’t get Least Putts but she came incredibly close. Donna Salle had her best score EVER with a 40 to win Low Gross for Flight 1. Louise Lodge won low net in the same flight by turning in a fantastic 41 (29).

The Flight 2 folks played very nicely as well. Deb Legaree scored 47 to win low gross while Vicki Hoffer scored 48 (32) to win low net. The low net winner in Flight 3 was Trish Thompson with a 52 (29.5) Deb Winiski won first place in Flight 4 with a 56 while Amanda Lane took second with a 58. My mathematical skills were put to the test dividing up the pots. Donna Salle, Trudy Forsythe and Rose Seymour split the deuce pot. Janice Advent, Louise Lodge, Deb Legaree, Susan Mitchell and the aforementioned Doreen Landry shared the birdie pot.

The Chip In pot was my biggest challenge being split eight ways – Karen Peterson, Donna Salle, Jean Webber, Betty Baillie (2), Rose Seymour, Lois McInnis and Brenda Carl.

The big Drivers were Rose Seymour, Louise Lodge, Kathy Cook, Marie Hakes, and Jessica Thompson with Val Aylward winning the Short Drive and Louise Lodge getting the KP in 2. The Putting People were Leslie Stirling, Cathy Paul, Jessica Thompson, Vicki Hoffer, Louise Lodge and Babes Shanko. Rose Seymour landed closest to the 150 Marker on hole 9. Betty Baillie had the least putts (15) while Nicky Braithwaite had the most (28). KP prizes went to Marla Hajmerle, Trudy Forsythe, Evelyn Lucas, Nicky Braithwaite, Donna Salle, Terry Blaeser and Erin Duncan.

This week’s ABCs of sponsors are AG Foods, Alpine Meadows Resort, Barriere Auto Parts, Barriere Massage, Barriere Motor Inn, Barriere Timber Mart, Bob Stirling CRI, Chinook Cove Golf and Country Cottage Day Spa. Next week be sure to look for the rest of the alphabet!

Our Ladies’ golf season is quickly winding down. We just have two regular Tuesday nights left and on Sunday, Sept. 9, we host our Club Championship which is open to members only. If you are a member and you want to golf in the Championship, but you haven’t registered yet…get cracking.
