The Day lodge, complete with the new lodge attendants, at 100 Mile Nordics’ 99 Mile Ski Trails is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The cross-country skiers and snowshoers are extremely lucky to open so soon this year, says Nordic Club secretary Barb Matfin.
Mother Nature has been kind so far, and the volunteers have worked hard to get the 40 or so trees cut and cleared off the trails. Meanwhile, the groomers have been grooming.
In the open areas, it’s pretty good – in the stadium, and anywhere the trees don’t hang over the trails.
“The 10-kilometre touring loop is done, as well as Fi, Fi Fo and Fum and the newest trails: Cantaloupe, Fruit Loop and Fir Ridge.”
The gate will be unlocked in the morning, and locked back up in the late afternoon.
“If we get some more snow over the weekend, the tracks will be set.”
