Five Abbotsford high school basketball female players have received nods to suit up for Team Fraser Valley at a pair of all-star games.

Yale‘s Selah Pankratz and Madison Draayers, MEI‘s Taylor Cousins and Abbotsford Senior‘s Kelsey Roufosse and Sydney Fetterly were all chosen to suit up at a special Fraser Valley versus Lower Mainland girls basketball all-star game at Riverside High School in Coquitlam on April 12.

The event features the top seniors (Grade 12) players from the Fraser Valley battling the top seniors from the Lower Mainland at 8:15 p.m. The futures game features Grade 10 and 11 girls from the two regions squaring off at 6:30 p.m.

The Fraser Valley seniors team has Cousins and Pankratz on the roster. Pankratz helped lead the Lions to an 11th place finish at the B.C. senior girls 3A tournament back in March.

The Fraser Valley futures team consists of Draayers, Roufosse and Fetterly. Roufosse and Fetterly were both a part of the Abbotsford Panthers team that reached the 3A provincial final in March. The Panthers came up short to the Lord Tweedsmuir Panthers at that event, but Roufosse was named an honourable mention all-star for her efforts.

Abbotsford Senior head coach Prentice Lenz will be behind the bench for the futures team.

Sienna and Marin Lenz were both named to the team, but both are battling injuries and are unable to play. Sienna, who earned most outstanding defensive player at the 3A provincial tournament and was a first team all-star, had knee surgery after the basketball season. Marin, who was also named a first team all-star at the 3A provincials, is recovering from an arm injury.
