Abbotsford and Ledgeview Golf and Country Club are getting some shine on golf’s biggest stage this week in Augusta, Ga.
The 84th edition of the Masters Tournament opened today (Thursday), with local talents Adam Hadwin and Nick Taylor teeing off at the event.

The 2020 edition of the event was originally scheduled to occur back in April, but was pushed back to November due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hadwin qualified for the Masters after finishing in the top 50 of the world golf rankings for 2019. He earned the invite on Dec. 23, 2019.

Hadwin also competed at the Masters in 2017 and 2018, finishing tied for 36th and 24th respectively.
Taylor punched his ticket to the event with a huge win at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am on Feb. 9. He edged Phil Mickelson in the final round and became the first Canadian to win at the California event. It is Taylor’s first appearance at the event.

Round one action today saw Hadwin finish +2 (74) and he currently sits tied for 72nd overall. He said he was disappointed in his first round.
“It was just below awful,” he said to TenGolf Television following the round. “The only thing that saved me was I drove it well today.”
Through 13 holes Taylor has shot a 72. Weather issues have caused some delays for many of the golfers. The current leader is England’s Paul Casey, who shot -7 (65) on day one.
