The Abbotsford Hospice Society (AHS) is hosting its charity golf tournament on Monday, July 21 at The Falls Golf Club.
The tourney is one of the most popular of its kind in the Fraser Valley, and a sold-out event is expected once again.
Each tee box at the AHS tourney is a tradeshow booth, most with delicious Fraser Valley food and beverages for all golfers to sample. Participants enjoy a beautiful golf course, breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks on course, contests, prizes, and a fun fundraising event.
Open to all, the format is a team scramble. Hole-in-one prizes include $10,000 cash.
The tournament raises funds for AHS, with a portion earmarked for Holmberg House, which will be operated by the local organization. The facility has been named in memory of Dave Holmberg, Jr.
Honourary chair Dave Holmberg Sr., reflecting on the 2013 fundraising tourney, termed it “very successful.
“I have been to many … this one was truly a 10 out of 10,” he said. “We expect no less with the 2014 tournament.”
“Holmberg House, along with AHS, will be a benefactor of the financial contributions from our generous sponsors,” added AHS board chair David Turchen. “Holmberg House will be a place of compassionate care and comfort.”
The Falls Golf Club is in great shape, the greens in good condition, and the fairways well-manicured. Dinner includes an 11-hour, 160-pound slow-roasted local Gelderman Farms roast pig. Fresh salmon and halibut will also be served. All products for the reception and dinner will be local, sustainable, B.C. products.
Tournament prices range from $1,200 a foursome, to $10,000 for a presenting sponsor. All tickets include 18 holes of golf, shared power cart, breakfast, lunch,
reception, dinner, on-course activities, contests, prizes and awards. Reception and dinner-only tickets are available for $125 per person.
