An Abbotsford professional wrestler and former W.J. Mouat grad is now one-half of the WWE tag team champions.
Sunny Dhinsa, aka: Akam of the Authors of Pain, captured the coveted title last night with his partner Rezar after pinning opponent Seth Rollins in a match broadcast on the WWE’s Monday Night Raw television program from Manchester, England.
It’s the first WWE tag team championship reign for the 25-year-old, who also won the WWE’s developmental brand (NXT) tag titles in 2017.

Dhinsa, a 2011 Mouat grad, made his main roster debut for the WWE back in April and has been signed with the company since 2014.
He starred in the wrestling program for years at both Mouat and Simon Fraser University, and was the Canadian national freestyle wrestling champion from 2011 to 2013 in the heavyweight division. He also won a gold medal at the 2009 Canada Summer Games and a silver medal at the 2011 Pan American Games. He failed to qualify for the 2012 Summer Olympics, and had a good chance to make the 2016 Summer Olympics team but turned professional in 2014.
Dhinsa returned home to compete with the WWE at the Abbotsford Centre back in September, and is currently touring with the company in Europe. He and the WWE crew return to North America next week.
