Abbotsford set for torchlighting ceremony

The flames may be officially out on the Pentiction 2016 BC Winter Games, but it’s nearly time to light it up in Abbotsford.

The Abbotsford 2016 BC Summer Games torchlighting ceremony heats up Abbotsford on April 13, and it will officially mark the arrival of the Games.

The ceremony kicks off at 7 p.m. at the Matsqui Auditorium, with the torchlighting taking place at 8:30 p.m. at Thunderbird Plaza.

Spectators will be treated to local entertainment such as the Elementz Dance Crew.

The Games run from July 21 to 24 at various locations across Abbotsford. Abbotsford expects to welcome more than 3,500 participants in 18 sports. The games will include three days of competition between July 21 and 24; and conclude with a closing ceremony on the 24th.
