Abbotsford Traditional Titans senior girls win Eastern Valley title

Volleyball team captures first senior girls championship in school history

The Abbotsford Traditional Secondary School Titans senior girls team has captured the Eastern Valley Championship.

The Titans clutched up in the playoffs and went an incredible run, shocking the undefeated Brookswood Bobcats with a five-set win (25-20, 22-25, 25-22, 14-25 and 15-13) in the first round on Nov. 18 and then defeating the Rick Hansen Hurricanes in three sets on Nov. 19 in the final to earn the banner.

The other semifinal saw the Hurricanes defeat the Abbotsford Senior Secondary Panthers.

The championship is the first-ever title for the school in senior girls volleyball.

Titans player Kaitlyn Lin was named the tournament’s most valuable player.

The Titans finished fourth in the Tier 2 with a record of 3-5, which made the playoff run both unexpected and impressive.

“They were exciting matches to watch and the ATSS team played their best volleyball of the year,” stated Titans head coach Frank Muermann. “It was the culmination of four years of resilience and effort leading to this final season.”

Muermann was supported in his role by assistant coaches Tanner Wellington, Eric Quach and Julie Hildebrand.
