A trio of Abbotsford softball products have been named to the Team Canada women’s elite softball team.
Local products Callum Pilgrim, Chelsea Jenner and Taylor Lundrigan were all named to the team on Tuesday, and will represent the country at the Canada Cup International Softball Championship in Surrey from July 8 to 16.
The trio have been participating in the Team Canada women’s national team selection camp, which ran from June 22 to 27 in Missisauga, Ont.
Pilgrim, a W.J. Mouat grad, has spent the past two years with the Lindsey Wilson College Blue Raiders in Kentucky. She hit for an average of .341, drove in 23 runs and smacked two home runs last season in NAIA action. She also had fielding percentage of .986 while patrolling the outfield for the club.
Jenner just wrapped up a strong run with the San Jose State University of the NCAA’s Mountain West Conference, while Lundrigan was recently named a second team all-west regional all star for her excellent past season with Simon Fraser University of the NCAA Division II conference.
Lundrigan, a Yale Secondary grad, posted a batting average of .396 to go with eight home runs and 29 runs batted in with the Clan in 2017.
