Golfer wins at Valspar Championships, qualifies for spot at The Masters

Abbotsford’s Adam Hadwin finally won the big one.

For the first time in his PGA Tour career, Hadwin earns a tournament win at the Valspar Championship in Florida on Sunday.

Hadwin set a strong pace early in four-day event, shooting a 68 in round one on Thursday, an impressive 64 on Friday, a 67 on Saturday and a 71 on Sunday.

Sunday proved to be dramatic, as Hadwin saw a two-shot lead evaporate on the 16th hole. But the Ledgeview product maintained his cool, closing with two pars to pick up the win.

He beat out American Patrick Cantlay by one stroke to earn the victory.

The win qualifies Hadwin for the prestigious Masters event in April. He is just the third Canadian ever to do so.
