Abbotsford’s Chase Claypool has signed an endorsement deal with Nike’s Jordan brand.
The 2016 Abbotsford Senior Secondary School student made the announcement on his social media on Tuesday (Jan. 12).
He tweeted out that he asked Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin for advice before making it official.

Claypool was also featured on the Air Jordan website, discussing his admiration of the brand and his formative years playing football and basketball in Abbotsford. He told the site that he really wanted a pair of Air Jordan XI Breds in Grade 10, but had to settle for a knockoff pair to save money.

Claypool used Jordan brand cleats and gloves during his rookie season with the Steelers. Other NFL players wearing Jordan products include Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams, Kansas City Chiefs running back Le’Veon Bell and Claypool’s Steelers teammate Joe Haden. There are 23 NFL athletes currently affiliated with the brand.
Other top athletes wearing Jordan brand include Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks, Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans, Mookie Betts of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Russell Westbrook of the Washington Wizards and WNBA legend Maya Moore.
Claypool and the Steelers were eliminated in the NFL’s wildcard round on Sunday by the Cleveland Browns, but he had an impressive rookie regular season with 873 yards receiving, nine touchdown catches and two rushing touchdowns.
