Abbotsford’s Chase Claypool closed off his college career in style on Dec. 28, helping the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to a 33-9 win over Iowa State in the Camping World Bowl.
Claypool was also named the Orlando-based game’s most valuable player, catching seven passes for 146 yards and one touchdown.

The game marks the final time that Claypool will hit the field with the Irish, ending an excellent four-year run for the 2016 Abbotsford Senior Secondary School grad.
Earlier this month, he was also named the football program’s most valuable player.
For 2019 he collected 1,037 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns during the regular season.

Next up for Claypool is potentially the NFL Scouting Combine, which runs from Feb. 23 to March 2 in Indianapolis.
The week-long showcase sees athletes perform physical and mental tests in front of NFL coaches, general managers and scouts. Players must receive an invitation to participate, and about 330 players get one every year.
The Abbotsford product has been projected to be selected within the top four rounds of the draft by numerous publications, so chances are he will likely receive an invite to the combine.
Claypool will also be officially eligible for the CFL Draft, which occurs on April 30. He is currently ranked second overall by the CFL Scouting Bureau.
