Abbotsford’s Edwards commits to Peninsula College

2019 Abbotsford Senior grad joining the NWAC's Peninsula Pirates basketball program

Jalen Edwards is taking his talents south to Port Angeles, Wash. starting this fall.

The 2019 Abbotsford Senior Secondary School grad has signed with the Peninsula College Pirates men’s basketball team, and is expected to debut with the team this fall.

The Pirates play in the Northwest Athletic Conference, a sports association for community colleges in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and B.C.

Edwards has been one of the key players for the Abbotsford Panthers during his time with the team, and helped lead the team to a second round upset of the sixth-ranked Semiahmoo Totems in the Fraser Valley 4A Championships earlier this year. He also helped the Panthers reach the finals of the Abbotsford Police City Basketball Tournament back in December.

He was well-regarded on the Panthers for his defensive ability and explosive athleticism. Edwards also starred on the Panthers football team, playing both running back and quarterback for the team last season.

The Pirates finished last season third place in the North in the NWC with a record of 7-7, but were eliminated in round one of the playoffs.
