Abbotsford’s Sarah Wark and the Team B.C. rink are staying in the title hunt at the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Sydney, N.S.
Wark, who is the skip on the squad, and her teammates Kristen Pilote (third), Carley Sandwith (second), Jen Rusnell (lead) and alternate Michelle Dunn opened the event on Saturday with a 7-6 win over Team Nova Scotia.
The winning continued on Sunday morning, with a 7-5 win over Manitoba. B.C. then defeated Nunavut 10-1 on Sunday evening. Sunday was also Wark’s 33rd birthday, which made the wins all that much sweeter.

Wark and her teammates then fell 9-8 to Alberta on Monday, and 8-7 to Northern Ontario on Tuesday. B.C. also battled Quebec on Tuesday evening, but results were not available at press time.
The round robin concludes for B.C. on Wednesday, as they take on Ontario. The championship draw begins on Thursday, with the top four teams from each pool advancing.
Wark and Team B.C. sit tied for third in Pool A, with a 3-2 record. The Scotties champion is set to be crowned on Sunday. The winner of the Scotties gets the opportunity to represent Canada at the women’s world curling championships, which occur in Denmark in March.
